Toyota sales in January

NEW YORK - Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday its sales fell by 16 percent in January, through a recall of eight popular models injured due to inadequate gas pedal. The recall affects 2.3 million cars and trucks in the U.S.

By the numbers: Sales dropped to 98,796 vehicles from 117,287 in the same month last year.

MODELS: Auto sales fell from 67,263 to 60,634 in January 2009. Light truck sales fell even more drastically, to 38,162 last month from 50,024 in January 2009.
